In exchanges with Sérgio L. And Eduardo H. (Automattic) I’ve explained for several days now that I am able to log in to my WordPress account and post my own blogs, but each time I click on a star in order to appreciate someone else’s blog, the star becomes red, as usual, then immediately reverts back to an empty star!
It appears to be an issue of WordPress blocking my access to this feature! They claim that that’s not the case, but I am experiencing the same problem of an inability to “like” any blogs on ALL of my devices!
They requested that I take a screenshot to illustrate the problem to which I replied: There’s no point in taking a screenshot, because the WordPress algorithm “unlikes” my red stars so fast, there is nothing to see!
I’m begging them to please restore my capacity to interact with other bloggers!
I’m Wishing on a Star that my capacity to respond to blogs will be resolved SOON !!!
About Barbara Crane Navarro - Rainforest Art Project
I'm a French artist living near Paris.
From 1968 to 1973 I studied at Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island, then at the San Francisco Art Institute in San Francisco, California, for my BFA.
My work for many decades has been informed and inspired by time spent with indigenous communities. Various study trips devoted to the exploration of techniques and natural pigments took me originally to the Dogon of Mali, West Africa, and subsequently to Yanomami communities in Venezuela and Brazil.
Over many years, during the winters, I studied the techniques of traditional Bogolan painting. Hand woven fabric is dyed with boiled bark from the Wolo tree or crushed leaves from other trees, then painted with mud from the Niger river which oxidizes in contact with the dye.
Through the Dogon and the Yanomami, my interest in the multiplicity of techniques and supports for aesthetic expression influenced my artistic practice. The voyages to the Amazon Rainforest have informed several series of paintings created while living among the Yanomami. The support used is roughly woven canvas prepared with acrylic medium then textured with a mixture of sand from the river bank and lava. This supple canvas is then rolled and transported on expeditions into the forest. They are then painted using a mixture of acrylic colors and Achiote and Genipap, the vegetal pigments used by the Yanomami for their ritual body paintings and on practical and shamanic implements.
My concern for the ongoing devastation of the Amazon Rainforest has inspired my films and installation projects. Since 2005, I've created a perfomance and film project - Fire Sculpture - to bring urgent attention to Rainforest issues. To protest against the continuing destruction, I've publicly set fire to my totemic sculptures. These burning sculptures symbolize the degradation of nature and the annihilation of indigenous cultures that depend on the forest for their survival.
This happened to me a few months back and they were able to correct it. As someone who spent part of my professional life as a programmer I wish companies today would do better testing before software releases. Best wishes Phil
Thanks, Phil! You’ve given me hope!
I’ve been blogging on WordPress daily for several years and this is the first time I’ve experienced a total failure to communicate with their “Automattic” contacts…
I appreciate your encouragement,
Barbara
I don’t know whether you’re clicking the star whole you’re still in the blog, which always works for me, or whether you’re trying to click them after you exit back to Reader, which is where it’s lighting up then going right back out for me too. If the latter, then try the former. I hope that helps.
I’ve had a similar issue, but never all at once. After a while in the WordPress Reader, I can’t like any more blogs, and it does the same thing. I click on the star, and it reverts back to an empty star. I actually have to open the blog outside of the Reader and read and like it there. Sometimes it shows me the empty star, but when you hover over the star, it brings up the list of people who have liked the blog post, and I see my name there. WordPress said that it was because it does that so that it’s a deterrent to spammers who aren’t actually reading blogs…like it has a limit after a while. Good luck!
Thank you so much for this info!
I’ve kept complaining to WP and received this yesterday:

I have my fingers crossed that they’ll reestablish my capacity to like everyone’s blogs soon!
I appreciate your input immensely, Willlow!
Best,
Barbara
Thanks for the tip! Because I’m experiencing the same problem on ALL of my devices, I’m waiting to hear back from WP headquarters to find out if they can sort it out on their end… *crosses fingers and toes here, too!* 🙏

Sigh… I would try deleting all wordpress cookies on your computer. Then log off and log in anew. That might clear up the glitch.

I cleared out my cache, cookies, history and all that. I had to go in and reconnect to everything, but we’ll see if that helps. 🙂
